Details
Isis was a great Egyptian goddess of magic, a healer and the mother of Horus. An Egyptian hymn to Osiris tells how, after Osiris was killed, she searched for him in the form of a bird, fanned his body with her feathers to give it air, stirred his lifeless limbs and conceived Horus. Winged goddesses, perhaps Isis or the sky goddess Nut, were fixed to mummy wrappings to shelter the dead.
