Each metal ages differently. Here is how to keep yours looking the way it did on day one.
Stainless steel 316L
Does not tarnish and copes with water and sweat.
Stainless steel keeps its colour. Rinse it in warm water with a drop of soap, dry it and wipe it with a soft cloth.
Sterling silver 925
92.5 % silver. Darkens with time and polishes back to bright.
Silver darkens in air. Store it in its pouch and bring the shine back with the polishing cloth. Take it off before swimming in chlorinated or salt water.
Gold-plated sterling silver
Sterling silver under a layer of gold.
Plating wears with friction. Put perfume and creams on first, take the piece off for sport and swimming, and wipe it with a dry soft cloth.
