Saint Christopher medal

Saint Christopher, whose name means ‘Christ-bearer’, was a legendary early Christian martyr about whom almost nothing certain is known. In the legend he was a giant who carried travellers across a river, and one day bore a child who grew heavier and heavier and was revealed as Christ. Christian tradition made him patron saint of travellers, and medals of him have traditionally been worn or hung in cars.
