Details
In Greek myth, Pegasus was a winged horse that sprang from the blood of the Gorgon Medusa when Perseus cut off her head, and Poseidon was said to be his father. The hero Bellerophon rode him to defeat the monstrous Chimera, but fell when he tried to fly up to the home of the gods. Pegasus became the servant of Zeus, carrying his thunder and lightning, and was set among the stars.
