Details

The troll cross, a loop of metal with its ends crossed, was first made as jewellery by the Swedish smith Kari Erlands in the late 1990s. She said it copied a protective sign from her grandparents’ farm, but this has never been verified. Older Swedish folk tradition, especially in Uppland, did use protective marks, carved on doors and posts or pressed into bread, to keep away evil powers.

Metal and care

Stainless steel

Hard-wearing steel that resists tarnish and copes with water and sweat.

Rinse it in warm water with a drop of mild soap, dry it well and wipe it with a soft cloth.

Size guide

Ring sizes

Our ring sizes are EU sizes: the number is the inside circumference in millimetres. The table gives the UK and US equivalents and the inside diameter.

EUUKUSInside diameter
48I½4.515.3 mm
50K5.515.9 mm
52L½616.6 mm
54N717.2 mm
56P7.517.8 mm
58Q½8.518.5 mm
60S919.1 mm
62T½1019.7 mm
64V1120.4 mm

Find your size at home

  1. With a ring that fits: measure straight across the inside, edge to edge, and find that diameter in the table.
  2. Without a ring: wrap a strip of paper around the base of your finger, mark where it overlaps and measure the strip flat. That length in millimetres is your EU size.
  3. Measure at the end of the day and at room temperature: fingers are slightly larger in the evening and smaller in the cold.

Between two sizes, take the larger one. For wide bands of 6 mm or more, go one size up. If your knuckle is much wider than the base of your finger, choose a size between the two measurements.
