Details
The hamsa, a hand-shaped amulet, is found across the Middle East and North Africa. Its name, khamsa, means ‘five’. Muslims know it as the Hand of Fatima, after the Prophet’s daughter, while Jews call it the Hand of Miriam and some Christians the Hand of Mary. In all three communities people traditionally wore or hung it to ward off the evil eye. Its exact origins are unclear, but the belief in protective hands is very old.

Metal and care
Sterling silver 925
92.5% pure silver. It darkens slowly in air and polishes back to bright.
Store it in a closed pouch, away from air and moisture. A silver polishing cloth brings the shine back. Take it off to swim in chlorinated or salt water.
