Details
The Miraculous Medal comes from Paris. In 1830 a nun, Sister Catherine Labouré of the Daughters of Charity, said the Virgin Mary appeared to her and showed her an oval image framed by the words ‘O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee’. The first medals were struck on 30 June 1832, and devotion to them spread quickly among Catholics.
