Details
In Egyptian myth, the god Horus lost an eye in his struggle with Seth, and it was restored, most often by the god Thoth. The healed eye was called the wedjat, ‘the one that is sound’. Egyptians believed an amulet in its shape protected the wearer and passed on its power of renewal, and from the late Old Kingdom it became one of the most common amulets, used by the living and placed with the dead.
