Celtic knot cross pendant

The Celtic cross, a Christian cross with a ring around its centre, is best known from the carved stone high crosses of Ireland and Scotland, the earliest dating from around the 9th century at places such as Ahenny and Iona. Irish legend credits Saint Patrick with the design, but no crosses survive from his time. After casts of high crosses were shown in Dublin in 1853, it became a popular gravestone form.
